Why Kosen? The Story Behind Our Elevator Sneakers

Kosen began with a simple observation: people wanted a little extra height from the shoes they already enjoyed wearing. In 2018, we noticed people adding loose insoles to ordinary shoes. That raised a design question: could the height boost be built into a sneaker from the start?

Our goal became footwear that combines an everyday look with an internal lift. The Kosen Journal is where we explain that approach and help you find the right pair for your style.

The problem we wanted to solve

A loose insert can change the fit of a shoe that was never designed to hold it. It may move around, leave less room inside the shoe or raise the heel within the opening. We wanted to bring the shoe and its height-boosting structure together as one design.

Our approach: an integrated lift

Kosen sneakers place the height-boosting layer inside the footwear. The exterior stays focused on a simple sneaker silhouette, with the lift housed within the construction. Our Mercury White and Mercury Black models are listed with a 2-inch height boost.
