How to Style Elevator Sneakers: 5 Outfits for Work, Weekends and Evenings
Five practical ways to wear elevator sneakers, from jeans and a T-shirt to chinos, evening outfits and layered coats. Find your colour combination and get the trouser fit right.
Style elevator sneakers as you would a simple pair of low-top sneakers: start with the occasion, choose trousers that sit neatly over the shoe, and keep the colours connected. An internal lift does not need a special wardrobe. The outfits below use Kosen's men's Mercury sneakers as examples, with ideas you can adapt to the clothes you already own.
Mercury White and Mercury Black both have a minimalist design and a listed 2-inch boost. For the construction and height details, read our guide to how elevator shoes work.
1. Weekend casual: white sneakers, jeans and a plain T-shirt
The outfit: Mercury White, straight-leg blue jeans, a plain white or grey T-shirt and a light overshirt.
White sneakers give denim a clear, bright finish. Choose jeans that fall to the top of the shoe without collecting in a thick stack around the ankle. A small turn-up can shorten a long hem, but keep it tidy so the jeans still hang naturally.
If the overshirt has a pattern, keep the T-shirt simple. A denim jacket or a neutral sweatshirt works as an alternative layer. This is an easy starting point for coffee, a relaxed lunch or a weekend visit with friends.
2. A relaxed office: chinos and a button-up shirt
The outfit: Mercury White, beige or navy chinos and a light blue button-up shirt.
The shirt and chinos add structure while the sneakers keep the outfit relaxed. Try a straight or gently tapered trouser leg, then check the hem while standing and sitting. It should fall cleanly rather than catch on the back of the shoe.
Tuck the shirt for a sharper finish, or wear a shorter casual shirt untucked. Add an unstructured blazer if your workplace allows sneakers. Follow the office dress code: a workplace that requires formal footwear calls for a different shoe.

3. Dinner or an evening out: black sneakers and darker trousers
The outfit: Mercury Black, charcoal trousers and a navy knit or a plain dark shirt.
Repeating darker colours through the outfit creates a coordinated look. Mercury Black has a white sole, so it will still read as a sneaker. A light T-shirt under an open shirt can repeat that white detail without adding another strong colour.
Choose trousers that move freely at the knee and ankle. A neat hem and a clean shoe do more for the finish than a very tight cut. This combination suits a relaxed dinner or a venue that welcomes casual footwear; check any stated dress code before you go.
4. Cooler weather: a coat and simple layers
The outfit: Mercury Black, dark straight-leg trousers, a fine knit or polo and a navy coat.

A longer coat becomes the main piece, so keep the layers underneath straightforward. Leave enough room in the trousers for the fabric to fall naturally over the shoe. Avoid a hem that drags on the ground or disappears beneath the sole.
You can use the same idea with a shorter jacket: one outer layer, a simple top and trousers that fit well.
5. Warm-weather plans: light trousers and an open shirt
The outfit: Mercury White, light-coloured cotton or linen trousers, a plain T-shirt and an open casual shirt.
Beige, pale grey and soft blue work well with a white pair. If the trousers are loose, keep the top reasonably defined so the outfit has shape. A lightweight shirt gives you another layer without making the combination visually heavy.
Try the outfit with the socks you plan to wear. A slightly shorter hem makes the ankle and socks more visible, so choose that detail deliberately. Fit should remain the priority: do not change the shoe size just to create a particular trouser silhouette.
White or black: which should you choose?
- Choose white if much of your wardrobe is denim, beige chinos or lighter colours and you want the shoes to stand out.
- Choose black if you often wear charcoal, navy or black trousers and prefer a darker upper. Remember that Mercury Black's white sole remains visible.
- Start with your most-used outfit. A pair that works with clothes you wear regularly is more useful than one bought for a single imagined occasion.
Check the fit before the final look
Put on the whole outfit, lace the shoes and walk around before deciding on the trouser length. Check that your toes have room and your heel feels secure. Comfort varies by foot shape, size and activity; appearance alone cannot tell you whether a pair fits.

Build an outfit you will actually wear
Start with one of these five combinations and swap in the closest pieces from your wardrobe. Keep the colour palette simple, make the trouser hem intentional and let the shoes be part of the outfit.
